Animal World: Beluga

 

BELUGA or European STURGEON.

Weight: 1600kg

Length: 5,75m.

Daily food ration: 8kg of fish.

 

Beluga has been punished for the caviar (eggs), that concidered a delicacy and is paid very well.

A female can to have up a third of their body weight in eggs. This animal has no scales, but has bony plates so hard that, sometimes, when a boat gives one of these animals in the back, the propeller breaks.

Beluga has no teeth, but has a lip very acute sense of smell. When sturgeon notice a prey, sucks and swallows.

These animals live on the bottom of rivers or lakes in northeaster Europe and northern Asia.
